The Ginger Snap Cocktail

Ginger Snap Cocktail

The ginger spice is a prized and valuable spice imported from the Native parts of South Asia; but historians have traced it back to India. Whatever the case, it is a fine root that has many purposes when cooking, and mixing of drinks such as cocktails.  It was also used for medicinal purposes and eventually found its way to ancient Rome, then Africa and then the Caribbean Islands.

During the medieval times, this sweet root was imported to the European countries where it was preserved for baking goods, such as cookies and cakes (, 2014).  Hence, here comes the ginger snap cookie turned Ginger snap cocktail.

The Wonderful Cookie Smell

Some cookies are distinguished, at first, because of the way they smell. Chocolaty, vanilla or banana-like, raisin or oatmeal smell all come to mind when thinking of sweet cookies.  Yet, the sound of a cookie has to be somewhat a different experience altogether.  Let’s take for instance the ginger snap cookie.  Traditionally, these cookies are also known as ginger biscuits. Yet, it is the crispy sounds which come from the snap one hears when eating them.  It is derived from gingerbread and was invented hundreds of years ago in colonial times, both in American and European countries, plus each having their own versions of baking them, but all the same they were still considered ginger snaps.

Fast forward and make a drink out of the cookie and you’ll have one sweet, divine drink for a special occasion.

Cocktail with a Blend of Tastes

Some of those sweet tastes and spices can blend well with sugar or cinnamon cookies.  They are guaranteed winners for an amazing cocktail drink. The true definition of a cocktail is the “mixture of spirits, water, sugar, and bitters” or a beverage with botanical matters, such that “the end result is characterized by bitter or bittersweet flavor.”
