No need to run out for fast food when you can quickly whip up a home cooked meal using a pound of ground beef and ingredients you likely have on hand. Here are five delicious dinners made with ground beef that can satisfy your hungry family in a hurry.

  1. Quick Meat Loaf: This quick meat loaf is super easy. In a large bowl, mix one pound of ground beef, one egg, a can of condensed vegetable soup, and ½ cup of bread crumbs. Add ¼ teaspoon of salt and ¼ teaspoon of pepper. Mix thoroughly with clean hands. Place the meat mixture in a medium sized loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for forty-five minutes. Spread a ½ cup of ketchup on the top of the load and bake for another 15 minutes.
  2. BBQ Cups: Brown a pound of ground beef with ¼ cup chopped onions and a ¼ cup green peppers. Drain the fat off the beef. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add a cup of your favorite BBQ sauce. Place 12 canned biscuits in a muffin tin with the centers pressed down to form a cup in each biscuit. Fill each biscuit with some of the BBQ meat mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes (until the dough is done and browning on the edges). Top with shredded cheddar cheese and bake another five minutes. The BBQ cups will be a family favorite!
  3. Beefy Macaroni: Brown a pound of ground beef with ¼ teaspoon of each of the following: salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. Drain the fat off the meat. Prepare a box of your favorite prepared macaroni and cheese. Add the browned ground beef to the macaroni and cheese. Stir and enjoy this semi-homemade beefy macaroni.
  4. Nachos: Pick up your favorite bag of tortilla chips. The multi-colored chips really give this dish a punch of fun. Brown a pound of ground beef with ¼ teaspoon of each of the following: salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. Drain the fat off of the meat. Spread two cups of Italian or Mexican blend shredded cheese over the meat and let it melt. Spread the chips on a large platter and top with the meat and cheese mixture. Warm up a cup of Queso cheese in the microwave and drizzle over the top. These nachos are delicious and fun to eat.
  5. Crock Pot Veggie Soup: Brown and season a pound of ground beef. Add to the crock pot. Add a large can of mixed vegetables and a large can of tomato sauce. Add two tablespoons Worcestershire sauce. Cook on low for four to five hours. Serve with cornbread or crackers. This crock pot veggie soup is perfect for those cold winter nights.
