Shopping for a Crock Pot?: The Top 5 Slow Cookers

Slow Cookers

Slow cookers can, sometimes, be life changing! You can throw in all the ingredients and set it on low heat in the morning before work and then voilà—dinner is ready to be served by the time you get home. So the real question is: Which slow cooker should you buy? There are hundreds of different brands out there on the market with a broad range in costs. I have narrowed down the top 5 Slow Cookers to help you decide which one is best for you.

  1. The All-Clad 6.5 Quart Electric Slow Cooker

This slow cooker has it all! It is a great looking appliance, as it is stainless steal. It also features an electronic timer that can cook food for 26 hours. Whether you want to cook on high for 3 hours or on low for 8, the All-Clad will automatically switch to the “keep warm” setting once the cook time runs out. This slow cooker also features a ceramic insert, allowing for easy cleaning. Lastly, it comes with a one-year warranty. The only con about this product is the weight—it’s about 18 pounds! This is good because it means that it is durable, however moving the slow cooker and cleaning the insert may seem tedious due to its weight.

The All-Clad 6.5 Quart Electric Slow Cooker costs $179.99 and can be found at Macys, CHEFS catalogue, Bed Bath & Beyond, Crate and Barrel, and Sur La Table, just to name a few.

  1. The Cuisinart Programmable Slow Cooker

This slow cooker is very similar to the All-Clad slow cooker: It is a stainless steal appliance with a six and a half quart stoneware insert. It also features the electronic timer and controls that will allow you to cook food for up to 24 hours. And, it also will automatically switch to the “keep warm” setting after the cook time runs out. This cooker is also very heavy—at about 20 pounds, it is one of the heaviest on the market today.

The Cuisinart Programmable Slow Cooker costs $99.99 and can be found at Cuisinart.com and Bed Bath & Beyond.

  1. The Crock-Pot 6.5 Quart Touchscreen Slow Cooker

It is another stainless steal cooker that features an electronic timer and settings. It has the easy to use touchscreen and silicon handles that wont burn you. It also switches to the “keep warm” setting once the timer runs out. It weighs about 12 pounds and the insert comes out for easy cleaning.

The Crock-Pot 6.5 Quart Touchscreen Slow Cooker costs $89.99 and can be found at crock-pot.com, Overstock.com, Bed Bath & Beyond and some Walmart stores.

  1. The Crock-Pot Countdown Slow Cooker with Hinged Lid

This is also a stainless steal appliance that features the electronic controls. You can cook food for 20 hours and then the “keep warm” setting will automatically turn on. The insert is removable for easy cleaning and the hinged lid also makes for less splatter and spills when checking on the food. It also comes with a cook book of over 50 recipes. It is not as heavy as the other cookers, only weighing about 11 pounds.

The Crock-Pot Countdown Slow Cooker with Hinged Lid costs $59.99 and can be found at crockpot.com, Overstock.com, and some Walmart stores

  1. The Hamilton Beach 3-in-One Slow Cooker

This slow cooker is just as the name infers:  3 cookers in one slow cooker! It comes with three different sized ceramic inserts- a two quart, four quart, and six quart. These different sizes make it easy to make a variety of meals. I found two downsides to this product. The first is that, like the All-Clad, the cooker weights about 18 pounds. Also, it does not have a digital timer and settings so it will not automatically go into the “keep warm” setting like the All-Clad and Cuisinart.

The Hamilton Beach 3-in-One Slow Cooker costs $75 and can be found at hamiltonbeach.com, Overstock.com, and some Walmart stores.
