INGREDIENTS:

9 large eggs
12 slices bread, cut into cubes (remove crusts if desired)
1 1/2 pounds ground beef or sausage
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons dry mustard
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
3 cups milk

PREPARATION:

Brown the ground beef or sausage; set aside to drain and cool on a plate covered with paper towels.
Whisk eggs together with milk; add salt, mustard, and pepper. Stir in bread cubes; add browned meat and cheese. Pour mixture into a lightly buttered 9x13x2-inch glass baking dish. Refrigerate the dish overnight. Remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes before serving. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes, or until set. Let stand for about 10 minutes, then cut into squares to serve.
