Three Organic Smoothie Ideas

Smoothies are a great way to get healthy and lose weight whether you are incorporating them as a permanent part of your diet, or if you are simply trying to cleanse yourself from the toxins you have built up over the course of several years. Before you simply choose a smoothie however, you need to consider what you are trying to accomplish. To be clear, that thing you buy at McDonalds really isn’t a smoothie. One of the greatest ingredients in smoothies today is superfoods, which is a name that tends to be thrown around quite a bit, but what is a super food and how does it help you?

Understanding Super Foods?

Superfoods are those foods that deliver vital nutrients, vitamins, and minerals along with phytonutrients which do far more than just feed our cells. Superfoods are packed with compounds that our bodies need, such as antioxidants, vitamins, phytonutrients, and several others that go above and beyond, ensuring our bodies get exactly what they need. Some of the most popular additives to smoothies include:

  • Acerola
  • Cherry
  • Maa
  • Cacao
  • Spirulina
  • Coconut Oil

These superfoods can be added to anything, and they are especially popular in smoothies. Let’s take a look at three smoothie ideas that you can use to start your day, or use as a pick-me-up for lunchtime.

The Banana-Ginger Smoothie

This is a great recipe if you want to fix problems with digestion along with other issues. In this recipe, along with the obvious banana, you will find ginger, yogurt, and of course, honey.

Soothe digestion, heartburn, nausea, and other stomach trouble with the fresh ginger in this natural remedy smoothie recipe.

1 Tablespoon honey

Once you have the ingredients in order, the recipe is pretty simple, all you need to do is throw them into a blender or smoothie maker and blend until the concoction is perfectly smooth.

Berry Smoothie w/ Pomegranate

If you’re looking for a treat, this is one loaded with cottage cheese, banana, and pomegranate juice. You simply can’t go wrong, and it only takes about five minutes.

1/2 cup of cottage cheese (you can use either fat or non-fat, completely up to you)
1/2 cup of water
1 cup of pomegranate juice
2 cups of frozen berries(mixed)
1 banana (any size)

Once you have all of the ingredients collected, place them in a blender and blend until smooth. Keep in mind that this recipe will make two servings, so be sure to save one for lunch!

The Ultimate Breakfast Smoothie

We spoke of antioxidants earlier in the article, and this smoothie is an outstanding example. Eat it any time of the day and reap the benefits!

3 Tablespoons water
1½ cup frozen of blueberries
2 tsp honey
1 green tea bag
½  banana
¾ cup of vanilla soy milk

Mix these ingredients together, serve, and enjoy.

Just because it’s a smoothie doesn’t mean it has to be bland or unenjoyable. Stay healthy, but stimulate your tastebuds – they could use it!
