Crock Pot Cooking: An Easy Meatloaf Recipe

Easy Meatloaf Recipe

Meatloaf is a common family favorite. It is warm, tender, and has tons of flavor. Here is a recipe that everyone will love that you can make right in your slow cooker. It has been a personal crowd pleaser for many years and will only continue to leave audiences wanting more. The best part is, it only takes about 15 minutes to prep. All together, this meat loaf will take approximately 5 ½ hours to make before serving. Depending on your own likes and tastes, adjust the cook time accordingly—if you like your meat more or less cooked. However, I do not recommend cooking the loaf for under 5 hours.

Ingredients (Makes approximately six servings):

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef/turkey/veal
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 3 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 3 teaspoons minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon brown mustard
  • 1 teaspoon sage
  • ½ tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

What you will need:

  • 1 large bowl
  • 1 Slow Cooker (at least 5 quarts)
  • 1 small bowl
  • 1 large spoon (wooden, if possible)
  • 1 whisk

  1. Beat eggs in a large bowl.
  2. Next, slowly stir in the milk with the eggs.
  3. Add the bread crumbs, onion, sage, salt, and pepper to the egg and milk mixture.
  4. Then, add the ground meat to the mixture. You may use your hands or a large wooden spoon. In essence, you want to make sure that the mixture is evenly mixed with the ground meat.
  5. When finished, shape the mixture into a round oval shaped loaf. Place loaf in your slow cooker (at least 5 quarts). Place the lid on the Crock Pot and set on low heat for approximately 5 hours.
  6. After 5 hours, check the loaf with a meat thermometer. The meat loaf is done when the thermometer reads 160 degrees.
  7. Once the thermometer reads 160 degrees, whisk the ketchup and Worcestershire sauce together in a small bowl.
  8. Once mixed, stir in the brown sugar and the mustard into the mixture.
  9. Once fully mixed, pour the sauce over the meat loaf.
  10. Let the meatloaf continue to cook with the sauce on it for about 15 minutes or until the sauce has fully seeped into the loaf.
  11. Turn the Crock Pot off and let the meat loaf cool for about 10-12 minutes.
  12. Then, cut, serve, and enjoy!
